LUKA BLOOM announces Cork musician/songwriter Clare Sands will support him on a number of Irish dates this autumn.

Tour commences 2 September at the INEC Acoustic Club Luka Bloom has announced his first Irish tour in many years. The tour will take place this Sept / Oct commencing on 2 Sept at the Gleneagle Killarney. His new album released earlier this year FRÚGALISTO, is now available in cd and vinyl at www.lukabloom or at Tower Records, Dublin. Having produced 20 albums since the 1970s, Luka continues to push the boundaries of what his music can do and has the power to bring audiences to a hush as his poetic lyrics bounce over melodies in a beautiful, captivating way. The same artist can rouse the spirit of the audience to the ceiling when he changes the tempo. Today Luka announced that Cork musician/songwriter Clare Sands will support him on some of his upcoming autumn Irish tour dates. Quite by chance Luka saw this very talented Irish musician at the Doolin Folk Festival and asked her to perform at some of his Irish tour dates. For the Riverbank date on 24 Sept and The Playhouse Derry on 15 Oct the support will be Luka’s sister Anne Rynne (who recently launched her own album), while in Ratoath on 16 Sept and Birr on 30 Sept, it will be Luka’s friend David Donohue. The rest of the dates will be Clare Sands. About Clare Sands: With a fiddle in one hand and a guitar in the other, Cork based Clare Sands is a singer-songwriter, musician, and composer. She performs in a variety of genres, her own material being a mixture of Blues & Folk. With deep roots in Northern Ireland and County Wexford, Clare started playing the fiddle at the age of four, learning tunes off her father Seamus on a weekly basis. As well as playing Traditional Irish Music from an early age with different family members, Clare also trained classically on the violin. Her mother Susan bought her a guitar in her early teens, and gave her a strong love of the Blues, playing legends like Muddy Waters and Eva Cassidy on the way to school. She soon found a love for song writing, and used whatever instruments that lay around the house like the guitar, the piano, the bodhrán or the mandolin to accompany herself. In the last few years, Clare has completed her degree in Music & Italian in UCC, whilst touring extensively around Ireland, Germany, Holland, and New York City.
