Building on the success of Future Sounds in February SPIN South West and the INEC Killarney are once again turning the light on talented home grown musicians already making waves on the Irish and UK music scene; Sample Answer, Overhead – The Albatross, Dáithí and Kormac, Sunday October 29^th in the INEC Acoustic Club. A mainstay in the Irish gigging scene, Dáithí, the fiddle-playing, beat-looping Galway native songwriters live shows are an improvised performance, creating on the spot dance music using synths, drum machines and live fiddle. And he is going from strength to strength with his on the spot dance music finding a home at this year’s Electric Picnic for the second year running. The response to his set a testament to the hard work Dáithí has put in to get to where he is today with his performance one of the most enjoyable of the festival. A forgotten recording of his grandmother, reminiscing what it was like living in the west of Ireland for the past 90 years led to the creation of ‘Mary Keanes Introduction’, a track which captured the imagination of millions of Irish people across the world, and became one of the most successful Irish singles that year, staying no.1 in the Spotify viral charts for 6 weeks, highlighting Dáithí’s mantra on music: Every sample should have a back story, and every song should be personal. Championed by everyone from Annie Mac to DJ Yoda Irish producer Kormac started out as out as a hip hop scratch DJ and MPC beat-maker. He has matured into an artist who brings a totally unique approach to hip hop by twisting and morphing his meticulous recordings of acoustic instruments into something entirely organic. When his last album was nominated for the Meteor Choice Music Prize the world took notice. Well known for his live performances audiences are in for a treat. Collaborating with big names in hip hop he has had a hectic schedule of international dates over the last year including Electric Picnic where he once again brought his unique set up. Kormac’s highly acclaimed live audio visuals were showcased at The Gerry Fish Electric Slideshow and his unique sound went down a storm with Festival goers yet another indicator that this is truly an artist at the top of his game. Joining Dáithí and Kormac is Sample Answer, a London-based Dublin born singer-songwriter who has been coming up trumps with his music and turning heads in the last two years. His debut EP Good Boy was released in July 2015 reaching over 500,000 streams online. With performances at Latitude Festival, he has gone on to support the likes of Pete Doherty, Damien Rice and The Fratellis, Gabrielle Aplin on her sold out UK tour, and was on the road with The Milk. Overhead, The Albatross, a six piece instrumental outfit from Dublin, are well known for their intricate yet powerful melodies and energetic stage presence. Not surprisingly their debut album Learning To Growl was nominated for the 2016 Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the year.
